Our story
Poplar Path began when founder Helen Marsh, a former operations director in Queensland manufacturing, kept being asked the same question by peers: “My team used to hit every target — what happened?”
After leaving corporate management in 2013, Helen spent a year interviewing business owners across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and regional Queensland. The pattern was consistent: teams did not fail overnight. Slippage started with small compromises — skipped check-ins, vague priorities, managers who stopped giving direct feedback — and compounded until quarterly results suffered.
She registered Poplar Path Business Consulting in 2014 with a single offer: sit inside a struggling team, find the real cause, and write a plan leadership could act on within weeks, not months.

Our team
Helen Marsh — Principal Consultant. Fifteen years in operations and people management across manufacturing, logistics, and professional services. Holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from QUT.
David Okonkwo — Senior Associate. Former HR business partner specialising in team restructuring and manager capability. Based in Brisbane, travels nationally.
Priya Nair — Associate Consultant. Background in retail operations and regional team leadership. Focuses on frontline accountability and roster-driven environments.
How we work with clients
We are not a volume consultancy. Poplar Path takes on a limited number of active engagements at any time so each client receives direct senior attention. Most work combines on-site observation with remote follow-up, keeping travel costs proportionate to team size and location.
We serve clients across Queensland and travel nationally for diagnostic and recovery work when required.
Community
Helen volunteers with the Brisbane Business Mentors Network, offering pro-bono guidance to small business owners on team structure. Poplar Path also sponsors the annual Queensland Operations Managers Roundtable.
